Greetings from Jordan!

I'm here..finally! I'm here, sitting in a small internet face just about right across the street from our hotel, where I only have to pay half a dinar for half an hour of internet! Its amazing! But this is like, the first little chunk of free time I've had since the beginning! But I don't even care about all that, how can I when I'm in such a beautiful city?? Amman is HUGE...like, seriously..buildings everywhere...and they all look the same, they're all this sandy color....everything here is brown! And its all very dusty, and dirty...so its definitely a different kind of pretty! But its pretty just the same!

The first day, we got in at about 11 in the morning (which fis about 2 in the morning in WI), and everyone was way to tired to notice any of their surroundings-the flight was 12 hours long! And since we were flying out NYC's LaGuardia Int., we got ourselves stuck in the worst airplane traffic jam! We were in a line of about 30 planes waiting to take off! But then we got here...and the jet leg was..well..still is kind of a pain. This morning I woke up at five and COULD NOT foall back asleep! But anyways..so yesterday we got a little bit of time to sleep in, then had breakfast at our hotel..which [retty much consisted of the WORST coffee I've ever tasted and pita bread....some continental berakfast! But then we had a little bus tour of Amman, that was really nice, and helpful, as now we are all starting to learn our way around...then we went and visited Mount Nebo--the supposed burial place of Moses?? It was def pretty cool, we were basically on top of this huge mnountain and had the most breeathtaking views!! O and today we visited the Old City ruins...those were way cool! They're right smack dab in the middle of Amman, and you are allowed to cvliomb on them and scale all the old buildings, it was awesome, and again, breathtaking views! Tomorrow we go to the Dana Nature Reserve, and we're gonna be spending the night camping there! I'm sooo excited! Official Arabic classes start on THursday, which is also way cool, i really can't wait! I think I finally have the arabic alphabet down! Well I gotta get going! Hope everyone is well! Shaalaa!

Hi again!! I love the "different kind of pretty" comment. I just bet it is different from anything we know. It sound like you are siezing the moment--good for you. Is your hotel basically like one in the states other than the continenetal breakfast? Do you have a room mate? Where are the other kids from?
I am learning stuff from you already-I guess I didn't know where Moses was buried. Camping will be interesting--they probably don't have mosquitoes? Keep on writing! Love to hear from you!!

Hi Kadie!

Wow! Everything sounds so exciting. It's so amazing to see new places, people, and their customs. I envy you and your journey. I, like Mrs. Cross, am learning so much from you already. Do you stay with other Americans the whole trip? Will you get to live with a host family? Immerse yourself in everything! I am so proud to know such a strong, young woman who ventured out into the world! Keep on writing, I love reading about it all. Mrs. Heinzmann :)
